About Us
Merhaba! Meet Mehmet and the team from Adelphia Tours, your local connection in Istanbul. We know the 'must-see' places and 'must do' things in Istanbul because we live here! We are avid travellers and understand exactly the types of things that you need and expect when in a foreign country.
Adelphia Tours is the innovative approach for travel in Turkey. We are members of TURSAB, the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies.
As an established tour and lodging operator since 1999, our mission is 'to offer the highest quality of travel services to our clientele and travel agency partners'. We attribute our success in this to our first-hand destination knowledge, constant attention-to-detail, personalised service and co-operation with the most skilled of our travel industry professionals, to deliver seamless travel arrangements for destinations throughout Turkey.
Our specialty is in incoming tourism, for which we provide an extensive range of services including packaged and customised tours, Istanbul hotel accommodation, cruises and yacht charters, shore excursions for cruise passengers, meetings and incentives, small group travel, transportation, and other travel related services.
We have spent a great deal of time personally visiting destinations, assessing hotels, evaluating itineraries and carefully choosing professional local guides and reliable company representatives.
'If we have a visitor, I like to show different parts of the country. I want them to see it through my eyes not only the most important touristy sites mentioned in the books. Overall people forget about the dates and historical facts but they will always remember a genuine smile of the people they meet, spending time with locals over a cup of coffee or visiting a site that is not very touristy where they can wander around without the crowds to enjoy the past. Istanbul is a great city that reflects different cultures and backgrounds. Each neighbourhood is unique. I am proud of my city and my country and I make sure that my enthusiasm helps my visitors to experience something unique during their stay'.
A little bit about us:
Mehmet has been interested in the travel business since his days at university. He has always enjoyed foreign languages and interacting with foreigners, cultural exchange and knowing other countries and cultures. He participated in international work camp organisations both in and out of Turkey and leaded a few of these camps in Turkey.
'I was doing some voluntary work, helping the local communities and at the same time travelling on a budget around Europe. Later I gained experience working for various hotels and travel agencies in Turkey. After I graduated from university, where I studied marketing I decided to open my own company and that's how I am still in the travel sector and enjoying introducing my country and culture to our guests travelling to Turkey. I also broaden my horizons by travelling to new destinations around the world. I speak Turkish, English, Spanish and some German'.
According to Mehmet: 'Travel broadens our minds. It helps us get rid of our prejudice. This is what I love about travel. I enjoy experiencing new cultures, seeing new places and meeting extraordinary people while I am travelling. I always appreciate things that I see in my travels as they teach us lots of things we cannot learn from books. They are real life experiences. My life would be boring without travelling. I know what this means to me so when people come and visit my country or city, I like to share my point of view with them and help them to get the most memorable experience they may get during their travel'.
Sustainable Tourism
We are proud to be a part of the whl.travel team where sustainable tourism practices are promoted and encouraged. With tourism growing globally, the tourism industry in Turkey has not been left out. Turkey has experienced massive growth and is now a popular destination to visit in Europe.
Mehmet took part in sustainable tourism even during his university years, partaking in many voluntary projects in and out of Turkey. He has worked at an orphanage in Poland, worked with physically handicapped people in Austria, worked at a farm in Belgium that helped mentally ill kids to interact with horses, lead work camps in Turkey where they built paths against fire in the forest, worked in tree plantation and dug waterways for villages that needed new water sources. He knows how it feels to be able to help the communities.
Adelphia Tours always plans to support the communities that need help or donations. However their main contribution would be in a cultural aspect as they want to support certain archaeological sites or historical sites that are lesser known and don't get much attention. They want to include them in their tour programs and bring people there to raise awareness. They want to help the local economy by getting services from local businesses and let their customers interact with the local people.
